7 Considerations Before You Join an Internet Marketing Company

I remember my first venture into internet marketing back in 2007.  My wife (at the time) thought I was nuts.  Maybe that's why she is an ex-wife.  Anyway, that's another story for another day.

Most internet marketers join or get involved in internet marketing for one reason, to fulfill a dream.  I simply liked the idea of having a worldwide market right at my fingertips.  Don't be like me.  I jumped in full throttle.  It was fun, but a very expensive lesson.

Take your time and make important considerations, as we have outlined below.  But be careful here, don't get that dreaded disease I call "Paralysis by Analysis".  Taking action is highly significant in your success.  Important considerations include:

1.  How long has the company been in business?

Is this internet marketing company a startup, or have they been in business for several years.  If it's a startup, that's not necessarily hands off.  I know some marketers that have a 5 year rule for the company to have been in business before getting involved.  I have gotten involved with start-ups, after studying the founders, their history and background.  However, take a look at the financial soundness of the company, the projections, and the long-term development goals.

2.  Is the product of high quality?

The quality of the product is fundamental to the  company's success.  There are 2 schools of thought here.  One says, "A great product with poor managment is destined to fail".  The other says. "An average product with great management will succeed".

Here's my rule of thumb.  Do I need the product and is it beneficial to me?  Is it easy to use?  Is training others to use the product duplicatable?  If I really like the product, its easy to use, and others can learn it quickly with training, I'm more than halfway sold on that company.  My acid test for a final decision is "Would I use this product even if there was no compensation plan attached?"

3.  Who or whom is the managment team?

The ownership and management team is very important.  As a matter of fact, if you come from the Fortune 500 corporate world, its most important.  Obvious questions include management's background, experience, and company direction.

4.  What is the compensation plan?

There are several different compensation plans these days when it comes to internet marketing.  When I study these plans I have one determination in mind, and that is "Is the compensation plan fair to both full-timers who build massive teams and part-timers looking to make extra money"?  That is a question you will have to answer for yourself.

5.  Is the market global?

What is the potential reach of the company?  Is marketing strictly limited to the U.S.?  Is the company licensed to do business globally?  What countries can the company legally do business in?  As we all know, the bigger the potential market, the bigger the potential upside.

6.  Is their consistent, ongoing weekly training?

In my opinion, consistent ongoing weekly live webinar training is crucial.  After all, statistics show that approximately 90% of  new internet marketers fail within the first 90-120 days.  Why?  Lack of education and knowledge.  The internet is an education in itself.

7.  What is your budget and initial outlay?

Are you desperate for money?  If so, this is probably not the gig for you.  Don't spend your rent money in hopes of making a quick buck.  Internet marketing with a long-term approach should be your mindset.  Have a budget in mind and know your initial start-up costs.

In closing, whatever company you choose, make sure you treat it like a business, not a hobby.

Why Are Website Templates Preferred Over Custom Web Design?

Template based website systems are overtaking the requirement for a custom made personalized website. Even web designers are constantly finding ways in which to package their products and manufacture them in bulk. But what are the reasons for people buying template based websites and avoiding custom built websites? This articles aims to highlight the major factors which influence the purchase of a template based website design over a customized one.

Turn Around Time

The crux of setting up a new website is having it up and running quickly. The main objective is to put the website out and keep improving it. Most design firms take ages to put out the first version of a website. They have lengthy procedures and sometimes have long and cumbersome processes to be followed before any work can be made live. This often leads to delays and long timelines, which cause disinterest in the client and also demotivate the design team. This is remedied by ready made template based options which allow a certain level of customization to personalize the template for the clients business.

Seeing Is Believing

Just like ready made clothes, templates allow you to see a live working of the website and allow you to preview and simulate the website's functioning before you actually purchase it. This means that you can see a fully functional sample website with dummy text and images and actually visualize how it would suit your website design. While tailor-made clothes will definitely fit you better, there is always a time-lag and also a risk of the tailor getting it wrong.

Cheaper

A ready made website will definitely work out cheaper than a custom made one, especially due to its re-usability and lack of personal touch. This maybe very crucial for a business which is newly launched and wants to atleast have a placeholder website to show to customers. This is also a crucial factor in determining the long term goal of the website and how you would like to keep evolving your online strategy.

Independence

A very major factor in deciding your design option is whom you are dealing with. Many designers consider themselves to be at par with Picasso and Michelangelo. This means that you may have a tough time in getting them to do things in a time-bound or disciplined way. Almost all design firms that we have dealt with have overshot their promised timeline and taken more than double the time to do the work correctly. While a bit of creativity should be left to the discretion of the design studio, it should also be clearly agreed that time is of essence and that a delay in work can be costly. Some businesses have taken years on end just to get the first glimpse of their website live. By that time their funds were drained and they had lost a considerable amount of revenue from online sources. On the other hand, templates allow you to go to any designer or coder to alter the design. Some websites even offer their own customization service. The bottom line being that your design source is
with you and you are not locked into the services of a particular firm of developers.
Customization

Although a template can hardly be tweaked to suit your corporate branding, you can make a lot of changes to make it look more personalized. Just like you can get a readymade shirt altered to suit your size, you can get a ready website also tweaked and twisted to give it a better look. It may look clumsy and a bit out of place, it may even look very cliche and standard, but for the price it is definitely a good deal.

The 7 Principles For Free Website Traffic

Every online business owner wants to get more website traffic free. Traffic is the lifeblood of all online businesses and if you have no traffic, it means you have no customers and that means you have no business. Without a doubt, it is vital that you have a consistent flow of website traffic if your online business is to succeed. Let's take a look at 7 basic fundamentals about free website traffic and search engine rankings.

1. Produce Quality Content.

If your website does not provide any value, the search engines will ignore it. The search engines will deliver free traffic to your website if it provides more valuable content, products or services than your competitors' websites.

2. Write A Blog.

An interesting blog that contains useful information will maintain and improve website traffic due to the fact that readers will keep returning to the blog to read the latest updates. If the blog is good, your readers will also recommend it to others within your target audience.

3. Know Your Keywords.

Know what keywords your audience use on search engines and place the primary and secondary keywords within the first and last 25 words in your page content. You should aim for about 500 words per page with between 4 and 8 keywords on it. The number of keywords on the page is called keyword density. Remember that you have to write so that it can be read by people, not just by search engines.

4. Use Social Media.

Websites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ can open your business to a whole new audience. If you produce high quality content that is related to your business, service, or product and people share it on social media, you can potentially get free website traffic from thousands of people.

5. Article Marketing.

Article marketing is still an effective strategy to get free website traffic, but you can't just bash out few hundred words with a link to your website and expect it to bring in a flood of traffic. Effective article marketing is about creating content that demonstrates your expertise and contains valuable and relevant information that makes the reader want to visit your website to discover more.

6. Video Marketing.

Another very powerful and effective way to increase free website traffic is video marketing. YouTube is the second largest search engine and with the easy to use technology available on tablet computers and mobile phones you can make a video and get it online easily and quickly.

7. Post New Content Regularly.

Websites that regularly publish new information typically get more website traffic free than those which don't. Ensure that you update your website with new blog posts, content articles, opinions, and audience interactions. This online activity will improve your website rankings and create more awareness of your products and services.

7 Tips to Help Create Your Residual Income From Home

Creating a residual income from home is very intriguing.  If you decide to get involved in a home business to create a residual income, here are 7 tips to get you jump started.

1.  Make sure your decision is a firm one.  You see, making a decision vs making a firm decision contrast sharply.  The reason I say this is because there are thousands, if not millions, that wish to make more money from home.  Making the money is the easy part.  Deciding to stick it out to make the money is the hard part.

Why?  Statistics show that over 95% of new home based businesses fail within the first 90-120 days.  Why is this failure rate so high?  Great question.  In my opinion, the initial decision to get involved was not a firm decision.  That means you proceed forward no matter what. There will be obstacles, challenges, setbacks, etc. along the way.  But if you have a firm 'no matter what' mindset, you are on your way.

2.  Get the support of your loved ones.  Running a home based business is hard work.  Just like any other business, you must have the support of your spouse, partner, family, loved one, or the person that is closest to you and your life.  Without their support and the 'no matter what' attitude from step 1 above, you will fall into the 95% that quit, fail, or just move on to something easier.

3.  Set aside a home work space.  Setting up your home work environment is crucial.  It is important that your treat your work from home office area as your typical 9 to 5 office.  When you are in your work from home office you are there to work.  You are there to get things done.  You are there to further your business.  Removing distractions can be challenging when you work from home.  Try to limit them as much as possible.

4.  Manage your time.  It is very easy to become consumed with your laptop or your PC when working from home.  There is tons of information and education for an online marketer or work from home expert to process.  Take it day by day and be sure to balance your time for family, recreation, etc.  When you are balanced you are fresh.  Your business should be considered a marathon and not a sprint.

5.  Find a mentor.  Having a mentor is very important when working from home.  Hopefully, your mentor is a residual income expert and very successful.  After all, to be the best you need to learn from the best.  A mentor is someone that can help you when you need it.  A mentor is someone you respect.  A mentor is someone that has already accomplished something you wish to accomplish.  There are great mentors available online today.  Take the time a find yours.

6.  Be professional.  Regardless of  your business, make sure you carry yourself as a professional.  What is a professional?  Someone that respects others, treats his home business like any other business, and tries to help others along the way.

7.  Automate your business as much as possible.  Remember that you are just one person.  But, having the automated marketing tools that work for you are vital.  The proper marketing tools can replace some of the human factor.  And, if setup properly are easy to manage (unlike some employees).

Taking into consideration these 7 tips can help you to reach your residual income goal sooner when working from home.

5 Things That Nobody Told You About Starting An Internet Business

Although many entrepreneurs enjoy success with their online business there are also a number who fail. One of the main reasons why people fail online is that they jump in head first thinking that it is an quick way to get rich. Here are 5 factors about setting up an internet business that you may not know.

1. You Need To Work Hard.

Starting an online business and turning it into a success does require time, effort and resources. It is a real business and if you treat it like a hobby, it will become a very costly and frustrating one. Be prepared to work hard to achieve your goals. It involves a lot more than pushing a couple of buttons on your laptop or computer for a few minutes each day.

2. It Takes Time To Get Results.

People who want to make loads of money as quickly as possible are normally the ones who get discouraged and give up when things don't go their way. Developing a solid online reputation, getting your website noticed by the search engine and building a customer base generally takes a lot longer than people expect.

3. Some Folks Will Tell You You're Wasting Your Time.

You will come across people who are cynical about setting up an internet business. They choose to ignore the fact that the internet is a flourishing business environment and that it is possible to generate a legitimate income online. Don't let less people undermine your efforts. Become a member of an online community of similar entrepreneurs for your business advice and support.

4. You'll Most Likely Have Information Overload At Some Point.

When starting an online business there can seem to be a never ending set of tasks to do. Once your website is set up, you have to find the right products and the right customers to buy them. There is a whole range of free and paid marketing strategies that you can use and sometimes it can become mind-boggling and you can have a total information overload. Take one step at a time, become proficient at one thing then move onto the next. You do not have to do everything at once.

5. Everything Will Not always Go To Plan.

You must never expect everything to be easy and recognize that sometimes things don't go according to plan on the first try. But don't look at these problems as failure. Look at them as a learning process. You now realize what went wrong so that you can avoid it happening again in the future. Every entrepreneur faces set backs at one stage or another with their online business and you have to be willing to accept these unexpected challenges as part of your ongoing business venture.

And the Answer Lies With? 4 Key Elements of a Home Based Business

I just received an email from a perspective customer or downline member in my personal email account. He had opted in to an online marketing opportunity that I promote . He was curious about making money online, as we all are. His email went something like this: "Do you think your opportunity is really the answer? Just Curious."

First of all, before I comment or respond to this email, let me put myself in the position of the perspective downline member. The thoughts I consider include the following: I wonder what is going through his mind? What is he looking for? Is he trying to find a way to make a full-time or part-time income from home? Has he been unsuccessful thus far in his attempts? What service can I offer him to change his outlook? Can I change his outlook or even his financial future? Does he have any experience online or is he new to online marketing?

These are all questions I ask when someone approaches or inquires about me becoming their sponsor. You see, a sponsor is much more than a recruiter. I am not involved in recruiting per se. I am involved in sponsoring. What's the difference you ask?

Sponsor vs Recruiter

In my opinion, a recruiter is someone that attracts inquiries into online marketing opportunities via various online methods such as enticing ads offering to make so much money, offering pie in the sky get rich quick programs or schemes, offering retire in 30 day programs, etc. You get the picture. Now don't get me wrong here. These advertisements may allow you to achieve exactly what they entail. However, in my experience, the odds of that happening are slim and none.

A sponsor on the other hand, has a responsibility. A responsibility for the success of the newcomer. A responsibility to provide all he or she can in order for that person to achieve whatever it is they seek. When you as a sponsor, accept this responsibility, you separate yourself from those seeking to recruit.

In my opinion, there are 4 key elements to success in your home based business. The 4 elements are discussed below.

1. Is your business simple to understand?

There is nothing more frustrating than trying to figure out how a particular online business operates? What's more frustrating is trying to figure out how you are going to make money with a business you don't even understand. My advice is to take the advice of billionaire investor Warren Buffet. He says, and I paraphrase, "If I can't understand it, I'm not investing in it." Make sure you understand the business before getting involved.

2. Is your business easy to duplicate?

What's the point of internet or network marketing if newcomers can't duplicate the business? Exactly. None. Follow the McDonald's motto of "One on every corner that anyone can run" and your business will prosper.

3. Does your business have a simple marketing system?

The rule of thumb in any online business is the same as any offline or brick-n-mortar business. KISS. Keep it simple stupid. A simple marketing system should include one with easy to use lead capture pages, autoresponders, sales pages, and products.

4. Does you business have a simple product?

By now, you should be starting to see a pattern here for a successful online marketing business. That's right. The simpler the better. Make sure your product is simple, cost effective, easy to use, duplicatable, and helps others.

To answer the email above to the question, "Is your business opportunity the answer?", I would respond by saying this: "Any online marketing opportunity can provide you the vehicle to get you where you want to go. It's up to you to take it for a drive".

If your business contains the four elements above, then get behind the wheel and take action. The answer lies with "YOU".

Does The Softaculous Auto-Installer Enhance Your WordPress Experience?

Softaculous is an Auto-Installer like Fantastico and Installatron. While WordPress is not included in its Free Scripts, the price for a paid version of Softaculous is about $2.5 per month. This is quite a small price to pay for the benefits that it will give you. This article deals with the value addition that Softaculous has to offer as far as your WordPress experience is concerned. The aim of this article is to highlight the need for an Auto-Installer to make WordPress Management easy and less troublesome.

Auto Fill

The Softaculous installer automatically fills in the installation form when you are about to install WordPress. This means that it auto-fills field like the Database Name, Database Table Prefix, Site Name, Site Description, Admin username, Admin password, the admin email address and the Default Language to be used. Auto-filling these field helps to maintain consistency of the naming conventions (like database prefix) and also helps to randomize values (like database name and admin password) so that it becomes difficult for hackers to guess the password or database name. This saves the admin the headache of cooking up some innovative options and allows WordPress to be installed in a jiffy. It also aids newbie users by prompting them on what values should be ideally put into the text fields. This can be a big relief for people who were previously intimated by the built-in WordPress installer, which was not newbie friendly. If you are not satisfied with what Softaculous has sugg
ested, you can always modify the values in the text box of the form. This ensures flexibility for those who want customization.

Advanced Options

Softaculous Contains a set of Advanced options which allows you to ensure the safety and data integrity of your WordPress blog or website. The form allows you to setup Update Notifications which will alert you when a new WordPress version becomes available for installation. This means that you don't need to bother to keep a check on whether you have the latest WordPress software which is more secure as compared to earlier versions.

Automatic upgrade of WordPress is another feature which Softaculous provides. This means that you can setup Softaculous to automatically backup your WordPress files and upgrade them to the latest WordPress version as soon as it becomes available. This means that you need not bother about upgrading your WordPress installation and can concentrate on building good content for your site.

Automatic Upgrade of Plugins and Themes

This is a newer feature of Softaculous. It allows you to upgrade all your Plugins and Themes to their latest version. Buggy plugins are a major cause of security exploits in WordPress. This means that any 3rd party software that you install may contain some vulnerabilities which may be rectified in newer versions of the plugin. Although WordPress allows you to update the plugins and themes from inside the Admin interface, softaculous allows you to schedule updates and automatically updates the core plugin and theme files, without your intervention. It is always advisable to take a regular backup of your site, incase the automatic process fails and causes your site to crash.

Automatic Backups

Softaculous allows you to Automate backups of your WordPress install. This means that you can automatically backup your website on a daily, weekly or monthly basis into your home directory of your hosting account. You can then download the files to your computer at a later date. Incase you have a plan with limited space, you can choose to rotate the backups i.e. If the backup rotation limit is reached, Softaculous will delete the oldest backup for that WordPress installation and create a new backup.

Softaculous also pulls the information from your WordPress config file and displays the details of the install in a simple form, which you can use to sharethe backend details with your development team.

Softaculous needs to be bought by your hosting provider and installed on their server. We highly recommend Softaculous due to the ease of use and smooth functioning with cPanel / WHM. It is easy for the Admin as well as the end user. Softaculous and cPanel are an awesome combination which is a must have.
