6 Questions Asked by First Time Website Owners

There's always a first time. Even when buying web hosting to setup your website. Not everyone is tech savvy, but we all like to satisfy our curiosity about the new toy we are going to buy. If you were born before the 80's you are most likely to ask questions which will make your web host chuckle at your innocence. This article lists some questions which a web host often has to answer when dealing with a new client who has never bought a hosting account. All these are intelligent questions which may appear silly to some.

1. Will I be able to use Linux Hosting if I have a Windows computer at home?

This is a very common question which we get to hear from people born before the 80's. Those who are Microsoft Windows fans are often skeptical about using Linux Hosting for their website, because they relate the incompatibilities of Linux with the Windows OS. However, the only major difference in operations is that Linux cannot run ASP which Windows hosting can do. Besides this Linux servers are more stable and less prone to damage or security risks.

2. Will my email be secret on my web hosting server?

Customers are always worried about privacy and security of their data. As we always like to answer this question with- All web hosts have the ability to see anything on their server. Whether it is Amazon, Google, Yahoo or anyone else. The only differentiating factor is which one is a lesser evil as far as you are concerned and whom you trust the most. You may also consider who is most accountable to you and whose processes are most transparent. Besides this, the information overflow on the server keeps your data as secure as a needle in a haystack.

3. Can I install my own pirated version of Windows in my hosting account?

We don't always feel like answering this one, because the answer is pretty obvious. if you still haven't got it, the answer is No. You cannot install your own version of any software on shared hosting. neither can you install your own operating system on a VPS and you can most definitely not install a pirated version of Windows even if you have a dedicated server. No host will endorse it and in some cases may take action against you.

4. Do I need to provide my passport copy when booking a web hosting account?

You don't need to provide any identification proof when purchasing an account. it is assumed that when you pay by PayPal or Credit Card, you are a genuine party and your bank has done the necessary verification before issuing a Payment facility to you.

5. Can I turn off my website in the night?

The whole point of buying hosting space from a third party vendor is so that you can keep your website live 24 x 7 and without having to keep your home computer on throughout. While you can turn off your website or block access to it every night, it would be better not having those facilities or not having a website at all. Some banks and utility services suspend their services in the night, to accommodate maintenance activities, however, if it is done on a daily basis, it may be frustrating for your users who are expecting a 24 hour service.

6. Can I automatically find out the contact details of the persons visiting my website?

If you want the details from your visitors, why not ask for them directly. You can get a lot of statistics on visitors and their visit behavior, but if you are expecting to know how your visitor looks and where he lives, you maybe a bit disappointed. The closest you can get to knowing more about your visitor is his IP address. Based on the IP Address you can identify the area where he lives. If you want more details, you would need to ask for them or surreptitiously gather that information.

How To Start Internet Business The Easy Way

The most straightforward way to start an online business is to sell products or services that have already been created and have resources and materials ready for you to use. Every time you sell the product the product owner will pay you a commission. This business model, known as affiliate marketing, is how many successful internet entrepreneurs started their own online home business. So how does it work?

Starting An Online Business The Easy Way.

All good affiliate programs have a wide range of resources to help you start an online business and sell products online. This can include banner advertisements, suggested keywords, a report to give away for free, and pre-written articles, blog posts and email messages.

Your primary task is to get prospective customers to click on your affiliate link that will take them to the product sales page or, ideally, to a squeeze page where you offer them a free report (provided by the product owner) on the subject of your product in return for their name and email address. When you have their email address you'll be able to market to them after the initial sale. If you only direct traffic to the sales page and the prospect does not buy anything you have lost all contact with that customer.

To get traffic to your squeeze page you can use strategies such as pay per click advertising, written content on article directories, classified advertisements, banner adverts, blog posts and video marketing.

How To Do Online Business.

When you start an online business, very few people will buy from you the first time that they see your message, so you need to create a sales funnel. A sales funnel is the process that starts from the time when your potential customer clicks on your link to the time when they actually buy.

Your sales funnel starts with you driving traffic to your squeeze page using one of the strategies mentioned above. Your potential customer lands on your squeeze page and enters their email address on the page list to get the free report, that was provided by the product owner. They receive the free report, followed by a sequence of emails about the product, again written for you by the product owner. These emails will all include a link to the product sales page. Once the prospective customer has read all the benefits they will be more likely click on the link in your email and buy the product from you.

That's why the number one rule when you start an online business is to build a list of potential customers. It means that you can send follow-up emails to your potential customers about your products and services at anytime, for free. To do this you will need an autorepsonder. An autoresponder can obtain, manage and organize your email list of customers, something that is almost impossible to do manually with an online home business.

8 Common SEO Mistakes You Should Avoid

Getting your website found by the search engines requires basic optimization or SEO for short.  When your site is properly optimized you will see substantial improvement in traffic to your site and ultimately more sales.

8 common, typical mistakes to avoid in properly optimizing your website are discussed below.

1 -  Using too many images for headings and menus.  Using text for headings and menus helps search engines more easily discover whatever they are looking for.  Although images may make your site look good, keep in mind that search engines cannot read images.  Because of the inability of the search engines to read  your images, having too many images has a zero effect on improved rankings.

2 - Backlink Spamming.  Create backlinks from relevant and authentic sites such as article directories.  Avoid getting backlinks from link farms, hidden links, certain link wheels, etc.  These can have a huge negative effect on your site and may even cause your website to be delisted by Google and the major search engines.  Using too much interlinking, especially from non-relevant sites, is considered backlink spamming.

3 - Bad Selection of Keywords.  When you select keywords make sure that you do not select highly unique or highly popular keywords.  If you use unique keywords (keep keywords relevant) you may find yourself at the top of the rankings but probably not any relevant customers.  If you use highly popular keywords you will face stiff competition from sites that are already at the top of the rankings.  For example, as of this writing, I did a google search for the keyword phrase 'make money online'.  A popular keyword phrase.  That search produced 556,000,000 results in about 0.20 seconds.  Stiff competition wouldn't you say.

4 - Ignoring Title Tags.  Using keywords in the title tags will definitely improve your site's SEO.  Search engines can find relevant keywords in the very beginning, which make it easier and faster.

5 - Failing to provide sitemap.  Often when you make JavaScript menus and do not provide sitemaps your site fails to make an impact on the search engines.  Search engines cannot read JavaScript menus.  Use sitemaps to enable crawling and indexing.

6 - Not providing HTML version.  If you have designed a website only in Flash then it becomes difficult for the viewers with a slower connection to download it.  Similarly, it becomes even more difficult for the search engine spiders to crawl.  Search engines ignore such sites.  Make sure you provide a HTML version for your website.

7 - Too much focus on MetaTags.  Many experts feel that meta tags are fast becoming obsolete, so avoid putting too much focus on them.

8 - Avoid tiny and fancy fonts.  Using FrontPage is not advisable.  There is a possibility that the output may be poorly crafted and may not even be compatible with all browsers.  Though a small spelling mistake may create attention and get visitors, this undermines the quality of your website.  Your links should never contain any spelling or  grammatical errors.

You should regularly update your site and keep the content fresh.  After all, free website visitors is an online marketers dream.  Proper SEO is vital.

5 Ways To Determine If Your Online Home Business Is Any Good

How do you know if your online home business is any good? An online business is a great way to make a supplementary income but if you're doing it wrong it will cost you more than you make. The internet provides many opportunities for entrepreneurs, but if you want to generate an online income from home, it does involve more than putting a website up onto the internet, having a few random products for sale and hoping that somebody will buy them.

1. You're Generating Traffic.

You can't make an online income from home if you don't have any traffic coming to your website. Your online traffic is comprised of the people who visit your website. If no one goes to your website, no one will buy from you and you won't be able to earn online an income from home. To generate traffic you can use free traffic or paid traffic strategies.

2. Are You Building A List?

This is the list of email addresses of potential and actual customers who have given you their permission to send them emails about your products and services. Your list is built as result of the traffic that you send to your lead capture pages that may be connected to or separate from your website.

3. You're Offering Something Of Value For Free.

When someone goes to your website, to get their email address you have to provide them something of value in return. This could be a free report, a video tutorial or a newsletter. Don't forget that what you give away for free is an indicator of the value offered by your online business. If you give away something that is useless, it will reflect back on what prospective customers think about your business overall.

4. You're Selling The Right Products To The Right People.

There is an old but true saying that says he who tries to sell to everyone, sells to no-one. You have to clearly know who your target customer is and what products or services you can provide that solve a problem for them or make their lives easier.

5. Are You Willing To Learn?

It is surprising how many people dive in head first to the online business world without any direction or idea if they are doing anything right. To succeed online, you need to learn from those who have gone before you and who can help you to avoid the pitfalls so that you make money online and not lose money online.

5 Things That Nobody Told You About Starting An Internet Business

Although many entrepreneurs enjoy success with their online business there are also a number who fail. One of the main reasons why people fail online is that they jump in head first thinking that it is an quick way to get rich. Here are 5 factors about setting up an internet business that you may not know.

1. You Need To Work Hard.

Starting an online business and turning it into a success does require time, effort and resources. It is a real business and if you treat it like a hobby, it will become a very costly and frustrating one. Be prepared to work hard to achieve your goals. It involves a lot more than pushing a couple of buttons on your laptop or computer for a few minutes each day.

2. It Takes Time To Get Results.

People who want to make loads of money as quickly as possible are normally the ones who get discouraged and give up when things don't go their way. Developing a solid online reputation, getting your website noticed by the search engine and building a customer base generally takes a lot longer than people expect.

3. Some Folks Will Tell You You're Wasting Your Time.

You will come across people who are cynical about setting up an internet business. Become a member of an online community of similar entrepreneurs for your business advice and support.

4. You'll Most Likely Have Information Overload At Some Point.

There is a whole range of free and paid marketing strategies that you can use and sometimes it can become mind-boggling and you can have a total information overload. Take one step at a time, become proficient at one thing then move onto the next. You do not have to do everything at once.

5. Everything Will Not always Go To Plan.

You must never expect everything to be easy and recognize that sometimes things don't go according to plan on the first try. But don't look at these problems as failure. Look at them as a learning process. You now realize what went wrong so that you can avoid it happening again in the future. Every entrepreneur faces set backs at one stage or another with their online business and you have to be willing to accept these unexpected challenges as part of your ongoing business venture.

Here's some of the best MLM Advice I've ever received (from my mentors) in the industry.

1. The company you join. The sponsor you pick. The system you use. None of that really matters. You are the X factor. You can succeed or fail in ANY company.

2. This business is a numbers game, but it's also a game of skill and strategy. The better your skills and strategy the fewer people you need to approach.

3. WHEN you join a company is even more important than the company you join. Timing is everything. Ideally, you want to join a company BEFORE it becomes a household name. That is where the BIG money is made.

4. You'll probably have to recruit 100 people to find 1 serious person, and maybe more than that.

5. The real money comes from building DEPTH in your organization, not width. Width is for show, but depth is for dough. Learn how to taproot and drive each leg hundreds of levels deep. A leg is not solid or established until you have MINIMUM 5-10 leaders in it.

6. No two leaders build their business the exact same way. Smart leaders leverage their own natural talents and abilities to build the business in a way that works for them.

7. We are a business of attrition. 80 to 90 percent of your team will quit each year, regardless of what you do to help them. Even with those types of numbers, you can still build a big team and a big residual income.

8. Customers and part-timers come and go like the common cold, but we are really looking for leaders. Leaders find customers, recruit reps, create volume, and grow your check. They also require the least amount of help.

9. Success is not about selling a product or one person doing a lot. Network marketing is about getting a LOT of people to do a few simple things consistently, for a sustained period of time.

10. It takes MINIMUM three to five YEARS of intense focus in ONE company to build a six figure residual income (in most cases). Top earners do not promote multiple deals, nor do they chase shiny objects. They focus on one company exclusively.

11. Most top leaders have been with one company for 5-10 years. They've sponsored 100+ reps personally and they make most of their income from just 1-2 people.

12. All the time you spend with weak, non-committed people is time wasted. You would be better off spending that time to recruit new people. You won't hit the next rank with the same team. Keep recruiting. Never stop recruiting personally.

13. You get paid based upon the number of people you serve and how well you serve them. The person that "serves" the most, and does it the best, makes the most (and rightfully so).

14. This is a team sport. No one succeeds by themselves. Surround yourself with ambitious, talented people. Ideally, you want people more motivated and talented than you. Whatever you do, do not be JEALOUS or ENVIOUS of someone on your team who is more successful in the business than you. If anything, be their biggest cheerleader.

15. You cannot control what anyone else does, so don't worry about it. Focus on what you do. Focus on what you can control. Set the bar so high with your own personal example so even if your team does 10 percent of what you do, you'd be happy.

16. Third party tools are the secret. Remove yourself from the equation whenever possible. Talk less. Don't do your own presentations. Instead, share videos and audios. Leverage three way calls. Even if you are an expert at these things, your prospect isn't. Plus, your prospect thinks they will have to build the business the same way you do, so keep things simple.

17. Don't be short sighted. Many of your best people will take you YEARS to recruit. Keep a database of everyone you ever talk with and stay in touch often. The average person will need minimum 7 to 20 follow ups before they buy or join.

18. Success in our industry is about long-term focus, not short-term opportunism. No company or sponsor is perfect. Pick the company you want to have your problems with and plant your flag there.

19. Use the products. Find a few customers. Teach others to do the same. That's how you build a big business.

I look forward to hearing from you. Don't let this opportunity pass you by.
